i heard that it is legal to harvest horses for meat consumption.
I am not saying purchase to slaughter, but if you already own them that it is ok, by law.
now ask yourself, would you eat it?.........
even if you were starving?
i sure would,.................MMMMMMMMMM mr. ed!

Wed, July 29, 2009 - 8:03 AMWhat a coincidence! I just read yesterday for the first time that horse meat is served in Japan. More info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse_meat

Fri, July 31, 2009 - 11:17 PMWhen I was driving through Fairfield, CA on the way to Davis in the 80's, I saw a restaurant named Mr. Ed's. It made me vow never to get a hamburger there.

Sat, August 1, 2009 - 10:58 PMBeen there, done that. It's a little lean, but it tastes good and is perfectly fine as long as the animal was healthy.
If you aren't a vegetarian the only objections are emotional. I can't see any difference between horse and chicken let alone horse and cow.

Re: hores meat?
Mon, August 10, 2009 - 10:52 AMIf I was hungry enough and there were no other options, sure I'd eat it. But I've worked with horses most of my life, it would be like eating dog to me. I assume it would taste fairly similar to beef, but that's where the similarities end. They're nothing like chickens and cows. I've never heard of someone training a cow to come when you call it's name. Or to roll over on command. Or sit, or lay down. You can train a horse to just about anything you can train a dog to do, and a lot more on top of that.
